Saem You

Soprano
Born in Korea, Saem You studied in Seoul, as well as at the Hochschule für Musik in Mainz in the class of Professor Thomas Dewald. She won first prize at the 2017 Meistersinger Competition in Neustadt.
Saem You made her debut in 2011/12 as part of the Youth Ensemble at the State Theatre in Mainz in the role of Narrator in Britten's opera "The Rape of Lucretia". This was followed in subsequent seasons by roles such as Almirena in Händels "Rinaldo", Zerlina in "Don Giovanni", First Lady in "Die Zauberflöte", as well as the first German performance of Rued Langgard's opera "Antikrist". She has appeared as concert soloist in Mainz, Frankfurt, Mannheim and the Vatican in works such as the "Petite messe solennelle" (Rossini), the "Matthäuspassion" (C. P. E. Bach), "The Creation" (Haydn), "Ein Sommernachtstraum" (Mendelssohn), in Dvořáks "Te Deum" as well as in "A Sea Symphony" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, under conductors such as Ralf Otto, Felix Koch, Alexander Rumpf and Karl-Heinz Steffens.
In Wiesbaden, she sang Lisetta in the 2015 production of Scarlatti's "Gli equivoci nel sembiante". This season, she returns as Manja in "Gräfin Mariza".
