Constantin Mende

As a student, Constantin Mende worked as orchestral musician and conductor, after which he gained experience in various facets of the theatre industry – as assistant director, répétiteur, conductor, musical assistant and member of the artistic operations office – at the Volkstheater Rostock. His own productions, performance projects and world premieres were staged at various off-scene venues and, among others, at the Brahm Festival Lübeck. He has worked as dramaturg at Theater Bonn, where he was responsible for the series Fokus'33, dedicated to the re-discovery of forgotten operas of the 20th century. He regularly teaches opera dramaturgy as guest lecturer at the University of Bonn. Constantin Mende joined the dramaturgy team at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden during the 2021/22 season, subsequently becoming Head Dramaturg for Opera and Concerts in 2022.
