Maike Menningen

The young mezzo-soprano Maike Menningen received her first solo vocal training at the age of 12 with Martina Hennemann at the Landesmusikgymnasium Rheinland-Pfalz. Her first musical stage experience was in the school's own opera project focusing on Henry Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas". Maike has won several prizes at "Jugend musiziert" and gained further experience during several international concert tours with the choirs and ensemble of the Landesmusikgymnasium, which took her as far as China and Brazil. Since 2015 she has been studying opera and concert with Prof. Thomas Dewald at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz. She has appeared in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" as Second and Third Lady and in Igor Stravinsky's "The Rake's Progress" as Mother Goose under the direction of Christiane Lutz. In February 2018 she performed the latter role at the Landestheater Rudolstadt. Master classes with Hans Christoph Begemann and Petra Lang complete her education. She is a scholarship holder of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Richard Wagner Association in Koblenz. In 2019, she won first prize in the 35th edition of the Neustadt Meistersinger Course and will be part of the "Barock Vokal" early music programme in Mainz as from October 2019.

During the 2018/19 season, she sang the role of one of the apprentices in Richard Wagner's "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" and also appeared as the slave in the new production "Salome".This season, she returns to Wiesbaden as Lap Dancer 3 in "Anna Nicole". This season, she returns to the Wiesbaden stage as part of the Planet Septet / Rainbow Septet in "Babylon".
