Sonja Grevenbrock

Soprano Sonja Grevenbrock was awarded the Walter and Charlotte Hamel Foundation Prize at the 2020 National Singing Competition in Berlin and won first prize at the 35th International Meistersinger Competition in September 2019. During her studies, she sung roles such as Sandrina in Mozart's "La finta giardiniera", Dido in Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas", Pamina in "Die Zauberföte" as well as Drusilla/Virtú in Monteverdi's "L'Incoronazione di Poppea". In 2017 she was a guest on a European tour with the European Baroque Orchestra (Eubo) and in 2018 at the Rheinvokal Festival, where she again appeared as soloist in 2021 and 2022. As a member of the "Barock Vokal" excellence programme, she refined her baroque repertoire and gained formative insights into the field of historically informed performance practice.

As a concert soprano, she has worked with various renowned conductors and ensembles, including Frieder Bernius, Wolfgang Katschner, Alfredo Bernardini and Prof. Ralf Otto (among others), as well as with the Darmstadt State Orchestra, the Dortmund Philharmonic, the Mainz Bach Orchestra, the Münster Symphony Orchestra, the Neumeyer Consort and the Rheinlandpfalz State Philharmonic.

She completed her studies in Mainz in the studio of Prof. Claudia Eder in the summer of 2019 and has attended master classes with Dame Emma Kirkby, Prof. Klesie Kelly- Moog, Prof. Christiane Iven and Prof. Olaf Bär, among others. Sonja Grevenbrock is a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Sonja made her Wiesbaden debut at the 2022 International May Festival in the new production of Jörg Widmann's "Babylon".
