Wolf Matthias Friedrich studied in Leipzig and has performed at the Dresden Festival, the Handel Festival in Halle, the Schwetzinger Festival, as well as in Berlin, Hannover, Potsdam, Edinburgh and Australia. He has regularly appeared as guest in Cologne (Monteverdi’s “L'incoronazione di Poppea”, “Rinaldo”, Brecht/Weill’s “Mahagonny” and “Don Gioavanni). Previous appearances in Wiesbaden include Osmin (“Die Entführung aus dem Serail”), Bartolo (“Le nozze di Figaro”), Crespel (“Tales of Hoffmann”), Don Alfonso (“Così fan tutte”), Dikoj (“Katya Kabanova”), Melisso (“Alcina”), Pistola (“Falstaff”), as well as roles in “Elektra” and “Boris Godunov”. During the 2016/17 season, he sang Prince Gremin in "Eugene Onegin", Marchese d'Obigny in "La Traviata", Osmin in "Die Entführung aus dem Serail" and Bartolo in "Le nozze di Figaro", followed by Waldner ("Arabella"), Zebul ("Jephtha") and Dikoj ("Katja Kabanowa") in 2017/18. He appeared as bass soloist in the staged version of Bach's "St Matthew Passion" in 2019/20. In 2021/21 he performed Il Talpa and Simone in Puccini's "Il trittico", as well as Bartolo in Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro". He returns to the Wiesbaden stage in the same roles in the 2021/22 season.
