Franziska Gottwald

Born in Marburg, Franziska Gottwald studied in Saarbrücken, Hannover and Weimar, followed by permanent engagements in Hannover and Weimar. She has guested at the Komische Oper in Berlin, in Stuttgart (Orlofsky in “Die Fledermaus”), Basel (Cherubino, as well as the title role in “Ariodante”, and Alcina in Vivaldi’s “Orlando furioso”), Venice and Cologne, where she debuted as Sesto (“La clemenza di Tito”) and Ruggiero (“Alcina”). Previous roles in Wiesbaden include Orfeo ("Orfeo et Euridice"), Ruggiero ("Alcina') and "Hänsel" ("Hänsel und Gretel"). She also appeared as alto soloist in the staged version of Bach's "St Matthew Passion". She returns to Wiesbaden in 2020/21 as Marcellina in a new production of Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro".
