Jiří Sulženko

The bass Jiří Sulženko has been an ensemble member of the National Theatre in Prague since 1991. Between 2008 and 2013 he was in the ensemble of the Staatstheater Saarbrücken, and since the 2012 season he has been back in Prague. He has performed numerous roles on international opera stages, for example at the Salzburg Festival, Opéra Bastille in Paris, Teatro Real in Madrid and La Scala in Milan. He sang in Janáček's "From the House of the Dead" under the direction of Pierre Boulez at the Vienna Festival, at the Holland Festival in Amsterdam and at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. CD recordings were released on Supraphon, Orfeo, Discover and Ultraphon. In Wiesbaden he made his debut as Wassermann in "Rusalka".
