Stephan Rumphorst

Director, Stage & Costume Designer
Born in 1972, Stephan Rumphorst completed his acting training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, where he also became a member of the International Classical Acting Academy led by Elizabeth Huffman, and received further training in film acting at THE STUDIO. As freelance actor in Germany, he performed the role of Max in “Bent” at the Studio-Bühne in Essen, as well as Kobert in “Ehrensache” at the Hans Otto Theater in Postdam, amongst others. He co-founded the children’s theatre Zapperment! in Berlin in 1999, and has visited the USA and numerous European countries in co-operations with the Paperdorn youth theatre company “theatre der jugend”. He has directed and initiated around 50 projects on the independent theatre scene, including theatre projects for seniors at Berlin’s “Theater der Erfahrungen”, as well as plays and literary theatre in Dortmund, Essen and Berlin. In 2012, his production “Noah und der goße Regen” for the Studio-Bühne Essen was nominated for four awards at the Liverpool International Theatre Festival in Canada, eventually winning the prize for Outstanding Actress. The production also garnered the Outstanding Actress and Outstanding Production prizes at the 2014 AACT Theatre Festival in Venice, Florida. From 2012 to 2014, Stephan Rumphorst was active as actor, director and theatre pedagogue at the Eisenach Landestheater.
