Andrey Valentiy

Ukrainian-born bass Andrey Valentiy studied singing at the National Pedagogical University "Drahomanov" in Kiev and at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory of St. Petersburg. In 2002, he became part of the successful touring group "Trio of Basses" with Boris Shtokolov and Evgeny Nesterenko. He made his Bolshoi Theatre debut in 2005 and has since performed as a Bolshoi ensemble member at the Savonlinna Festival in Finland, the Ljubljana Music Festival in Slovenia and the Teatro la Scala in Milan. He has been leading bass at the Belarusian National Opera in Minsk since 2009, where his extensive repertoire includes roles such as Sarastro in "Die Zauberflöte", Gremin in "Eugene Onegin" and Zaccaria in "Nabucco". He makes his Wiesbaden debut in 2020/21 as Boris in Shostakovich's "Lady Macbeth of Mzensk".
