Akira Nakamura

Japanese pianist and conductor Akira Nakamura studied composition and orchestral conducting at the Tokyo National University of Music and Fine Arts. After graduating in both subjects, he moved to Vienna, where he first trained as opera répétiteur at the University of Music and Performing Arts and supplemented this with vocal studies at the Prayner Conservatory of Music and Performing Arts. He also worked as a répétiteur and assistant conductor on various opera productions in Tokyo and Kyoto, including productions of Aribert Reimann's "Lear" and Richard Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde".

Following a first engagement as solo répétiteur with conducting duties at Theater Osnabrück from 2015 to 2018, Akira Nakamura took up the position of solo répétiteur with conducting duties at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden at the beginning of the 2018/19 season.
