Olesya Golovneva

Olesya Golovneva was born in Russia and studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire and in Vienna. She began her career as Queen of the Night ("Die Zauberflöte") in 2005/2006 as an ensemble member of the Vienna State Opera. She has also sung the role in Berlin, Leipzig, Stuttgart and in Aix-en-Provence. She has since enjoyed a busy European career. She made her role debut as Mimì ("La Bohème") in Malmö and also sang the title role in "Luisa Miller". She sang Violetta ("La Traviata") in Düsseldorf and in Cologne she sang Tatjana ("Eugene Onegin"), Natascha ("War and Peace"), Anna Bolena, as well as Konstanze ("Entführung aus dem Serail"), Vitellia ("Clemenza di Tito") and Lucia di Lammermoor. She was nominated for the FAUST German Theatre Prize for her interpretation of Rusalka at Oper Köln and won the Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov Competition and the International Vocal Competition 's-Hertogenbosch. She sang Gilda ("Rigoletto") and Valentine ("Les Huguenots") in Zurich and Berlin, while recent roles in Frankfurt include Rusalka and Mimì. She received great acclaim for her performance of Rusalka at the Semperoper Dresden in 2021.2022.

Previous roles in Wiesbaden include Violetta at the 2015 International May Festival, Adina ("L'elisir d'amore"), Desdemona ("Otello"), Tatjana ("Eugene Onegin"), Vitellia ("La Clemenza di Tito"), as well as Giorgetta, Sister Angelica and Lauretta in Puccini's "Il trittico". This season, she makes her directing debut with a new production of "Rusalka" (alongside Daniela Kerck), in addition to appearing in the lead role.
