Philipp Mathmann

Philipp Mathmann (*1986) is one of the rising stars on the early music scene. He was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation and has won several international scholarships and prizes. As a soloist, he regularly appears at international music festivals such as the Winter in Schwetzingen, the Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele, the Handel Festivals in Göttingen and Halle, as well as the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht and the Festival della Valle d'Itria. He has performed in concerts and operas at venues including the Cologne Philharmonie, the Frankfurt Opera, the Theater an der Wien, and the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow. Parallel to his musical career, the soprano studied at the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster and graduated as a licensed physician. In the 2021/22 season, Philipp Mathmann appeared at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden in Jörg Widmann's opera "Babylon" in the role of the Scorpion Man.
