Leonardo Ferrando

Born in Uruguay and of Italian origin, tenor Leonardo Ferrando received his vocal training at the music academy of the Teatro del Centro in his hometown of Montevideo and at the Universidad de la Republica Uruguay. Since making his operatic debut in Uruguay in 2005, he has sung numerous important lyric tenor roles, including Count Almaviva ("Il barbiere di Siviglia"), Nemorino ("L'elisir d'amore"), Ferrando ("Così fan tutte"), Tamino ("Die Zauberflöte") and Don Ottavio ("Don Giovoanni"). His career has taken him to Bergamo, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Innsbruck, Copenhagen, Helsinki and the Arena di Verona. The production of Rossini's "Le Comte Ory" from Malmö, in which Ferrando sang the title role, has been released on DVD under the Naxos label.

Leonardo Ferrando made his Wiesbaden debut in 2021/22 as Tammu in Jörg Widmann's opera "Babylon".
