American soprano Heather Engebretson received her training at the Juilliard School in New York and is a prize laureate of the Savonlinna Opera Festival and Belvedere Singing Competition.

Following her first successes in the USA, she joined the ensemble of the Hanover State Opera in 2013, moving to the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden in 2014/15, where she remains a regular guest to this day, with roles such as Violetta ("La Traviata"), Donna Elvira ("Don Giovanni"), Konstanze ("Die Entführung aus dem Serail"), Oscar ("Un ballo in maschera") and Euridice in "Orpheus und Eurydike". During the 2016/17 season, shes was an ensemble member of the Hamburg State Opera, where she sang Musetta in "La bohème", amongst others. She is also a sought-after guest at many renowned theatres, such as the Bolshoi Theatre and Staatstheater Stuttgart ("Alcina"), the Deutsche Oper Berlin (the four female roles in "Les Contes d'Hoffmann" and the Queen of the Night in "Die Zauberflöte"), the Komische Oper Berlin (Mimi in "La bohéme"), the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (Barbarina in "Le nozze di Figaro", Sophie in Massenet's "Werther" and the Waldvogel in "Siegfried"), the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège (Liù in "Turandot") and Cagliari (Donna Anna in "Don Giovanni").

Recent engagements include the titles role of Cio-Cio-San in "Madama Butterfly" at Oper Frankfurt and Strauss' "Salome" at Theater Basel. In Milan she sang Beethoven's Ninth under the musical direction of Thomas Guggeis.

The 2023.24 season includes her role debut as Manon Lescaut at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt and as Elsa in "Lohengrin" at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, where she will also appear as Liù in the new production of "Turandot".
