Johan and Marianne manage to lead an exemplary, normal marriage, until their relationship begins to fall apart in the same exemplary manner. Initially conceived as a film in 1973, Ingmar Bergmann reworked "Scenes of a Marriage" into a play in 1981. The mercilessly touching psychological study continues to move generations of married (and unmarried!) people to this day, and has since become an integral part of the dramatic repertoire. Ingo Kerkhof, known in Wiesbaden for productions such as "Die Möwe", "Richard III" and "Jenufa" directs this new production, while Tom Gerber and Sybille Weiser play the married couple.
