For his "Fairy Queen", Henry Purcell adapted one of the most magical comedies of all time: Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream". In five so-called masques, Purcell alternates magnificent dance movements with burlesque drinking songs and soulful arias. A timeless English Baroque masterpiece!
