Together Alone

"Together Alone" – this paradox has become a key approach to life for many people, not just since the Corona pandemic. In their eponymous duet, the Belgian-Taiwanese couple Lee Chen-Wei and Vakulya Zoltán capture this ambivalent feeling in all its nuances. It is a solo that is danced together. The individual loneliness contrasts with the power of coexistence. Chen-Wei and Zoltán remove all their clothes, all superfluous decoration and secrecy to face each other completely naked. They create an intimate time and space in which they give and take, discovering moments of compromise and collaboration, as they thus learn to steadily move forward. In the process, they explore the boundaries that invisibly remain between their merged bodies. As they continually shift between touch and separation, the duo finds harmony in confrontation, which in turn leads to conflicts, and ultimately brings them back together to confront their individual loneliness.
