What does Art Nouveau sound like today?
The first symphony concert of the season, conducted by GMD Patrick Lange, features the first prize-winning work in the Hessian State Orchestra's New Music Composition Competition. This is followed by two symphonic highlights: Schubert's "Unfinished" and Bruckner's 7th Symphony. The two completed movements of Schubert's work are known for their perfect form and melodic beauty. Schubert's pioneering influence can be clearly heard in Bruckner's symphony, a large-scale work in which the composer crafts an architectural masterpiece of gigantic proportions.
