Christian Rathgeber

Christian Rathgeber received his first musical education in the Windsbach Boys Choir. While working as remedial therapist, he took private singing lessons with Hans-Peter Blochwitz and Martin Hummel, and later completed his formal studies at the Mainz Conservatory under Prof. Andreas Karasiak. He currently studies with Nadine Secunde in Wiesbaden. His main focus lies in the early music concert repertoire and early Romanticism, ranging from Monteverdi, Bach and Handel to Mendelssohn. He has performed widely, with concerts taking him to Israel with Bach's St. John Passion, South Africa with Bach's B minor Mass and to Paris's Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Aix en Provence with a concert of Bach Cantatas. He has also performed in Switzerland and Russia. Christian Rathgeber regularly performs as part of the Bach Cantata Series in Mainz, and was a member of the Mainz State Theatre youth ensemble. He has appeared in numerous productions in Mainz and at the Landestheater Rudolstadt, with directors such as Tatjana Gürbaca, Christoph Nehl und Sigrid T'Hooft. He regularly collaborates with ensembles such as Collegium Vocale in Ghent, the Balthasar-Neumann Choir, the Rundfunkchor Berlin and the Lauttencompagney Berlin. This season, he performs the role of Third Hew in "Salome".
