Hans-Otto Weiß

Hans-Otto Weiß studied in Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, and made his professional debut in Detmold. He has been a member of the solo ensemble at the Mainz State Theatre since 1985 and received the honour of "Kammersänger" of the City of Mainz in 2010. He has performed at numerous festivals, including the Eutiner Festival, the Bad Hersfelder and Zwingenberg Festivals, the Tyrol Festival in Erl, Festival de Buc (Versailles) and the French-Montpellier Radio Festival. His wide-ranging repertoire includes roles such as Sarastro ("Die Zauberflöte"), Baron Ochs ("Der Rosenkavalier"), Kaspar ("Der Freischütz") and Doktor ("Wozzeck"). Guest engagements have taken him to Paris, Munich, Frankfurt, Mannheim, Darmstadt, Luxemburg, as well as to the Opera Santa Cruz in La Palma. After previously singing Hobson in "Peter Grimes", he returns to Wiesbaden this season as Mayor in the new production of "Jenufa".
