General Terms & Conditions

This translation is supplied purely for the sake of convenience. The German version is deemed the authoritative document.
1.
Prices displayed at the Box Office are definitive. Row and seat numbers also apply to single-priced performances, unless stated otherwise.

2.
The client is responsible for checking the accuracy of his/her entrance ticket (details such as production, seating category and date), as well as change (if applicable) upon purchase. Subsequent complaints will not be accepted. Similarly, this applies to tickets purchased via the theatre’s online ticket platform, where a binding contract comes into effect upon completion of the purchase and payment process.

3.
In principle, it is not possible to return or receive a refund for purchased tickets. During the pre-sale period of a production, tickets may be exchanged for another performance up to one (1) day before the original performance date – a levy will be charged for this service. Once tickets have been exchanged, further exchanges are not allowed. No claim can be made for same-seat tickets or seats in a similar seating category. Should a ticket exchange into a lower seating category result in a pricing difference, no refund can be offered. For exchanges into a higher seating category, the pricing difference is to be paid. In the case of performances cancelled without substitute/alternative dates, the ticket price will be refunded within thirty (30) days after the original performance date. Should a performance be cancelled before the interval (or, in the case of a production which has no or various intervals, then before the 1st half of the performance has elapsed), then the full ticket price will be refunded. Should a cancellation take place after 50% of a performance’s running duration has already elapsed, then 50% of the ticket price will be refunded in the form of a voucher (the original ticket is to be presented as proof of purchase). Should cancellation occur within the last third (3rd) of a performance, no right to compensation will exist. No further refund claims will be accepted.

4.
The redemption of vouchers and exchanged tickets which are bound to a specific seating category is subject to the availability of tickets within that category, and no claim for reimbursement exists should the theatre only be able to offer seats in a lower seating category. Seats in a higher pricing group will be charged at the relevant additional fee. Complimentary ticket vouchers can only be redeemed against the seating category printed on the voucher, or alternatively a lower one.

5.
According to Rule 195 of the German Civil Code (BGB), gift vouchers are valid for 3 years from the 31st December of the year of issue. An extension beyond this validity period is not possible. Complimentary ticket vouchers are only valid during the relevant performance season. Validity of free-choice vouchers and exchange certificates is governed by the terms of the relevant subscription package.

6.
Tickets may be released for sale immediately upon publication of the annual season programme and monthly schedule. Special arrangements however apply to guest productions, the Christmas fairytale productions and the International May Festival, which are governed by special arrangements. Tickets may be ordered in writing at any time. When vouchers or exchange tickets are used as a form of payment, the relevant voucher or ticket must accompany the order.

7.
Payment by direct debit can be arranged through the completion of a SEPA direct debit mandate. The deadline for notice is 5 days, and it is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that adequate funds are available in his/her relevant bank account.

8.
Pre-booked tickets must be paid in full no later than the deadline as determined by the Box Office. Unpaid tickets will be returned back into sale.

9.
Concessions

a.
People with severe disabilities (from 70% upwards) are entitled to a ticket concession of 50% at all performance venues upon presentation of the appropriate disability pass. Should an assistant be required (according to German classification ‘B’), this person will be entitled to free access.

b.
Children up to 18 years of age, scholars, students, trainees, participants in the Federal Volunteer and Voluntary Social Service programmes (up to 30 years of age) are entitled to a discount of 50% in the pricing groups I to VI of the Großes Haus, as well as stalls I to IV of the Kleines Haus. At the evening Box Office, these concessions apply to all seating groups which may still be available for sale. The theatre directorship reserves the right to expand the concession to other seating groups from time to time during the advance sale period, as necessity arises. Provided at least one ticket is purchased at full price, families are entitled to a 50% concession in all seating groups for children up to 18 years of age, also during the pre-sale period. For the Studio, Wartburg and Kurhaus, concessions are available on all seats, also during the pre-sale period or when ordering in writing.

c.
The above-mentioned discounts do not apply to opening nights (premieres), guest productions or special performances.

d.
Entry into a performance will only be granted upon presentation of a valid entrance ticket. Visitors who arrive after the start of a performance do not have automatic right of immediate entry into the auditorium. They will only be allowed to take their seats during the interval. Similarly, should visitors not re-take their seats at the end of interval, they may refused re-entry into the auditorium should the performance have already commenced. Should it be impossible to enter the auditorium, the performance may be viewed on TV monitors. Unfortunately children under the age of four (4) are not allowed in performances, since it cannot be guaranteed that their attendance will be disturbance-free. Children’s performances (which carry a clear age suitability statement) are excluded from this rule.

11.
Coats must be handed in at the cloakroom. Cloakroom fees are already included in the entrance ticket price. According to the “places of public assembly” guidelines and work regulations, it is forbidden to take coats along to auditorium seats. The theatre in its entirety is a smoke-free building and smoking is forbidden in all of its various rooms and venues.

12.
For legal reasons, it is forbidden to make video or sound recordings during a performance. Video or sound recordings may be confiscated by the theatre directorship. Mobile telephones must be switched off during performances.

13.
The storage of personal data serves commercial and contractual purposes and enables the processing and potential return of orders, as well as the dispatch of theatre information. The theatre complies with the statutory terms. We do not disclose information to third parties, except in the case of our ticketing service partner, who also abides by the terms of the Federal Data Protection Act.

14.
For subscribers, the additional terms of the relevant subscription contract applies.
