Swedish-American soprano Erika Sunnegårdh studied in Tel Aviv, Tanglewood and New York. Following her triumphant debut as Turandot in Malmö in 2004, her roles include Salome (Vienna State Opera, 2016/17), Leonore ("Fidelio"), Jenufa (Leoš Janáček), Lady Macbeth and Tosca (in Frankfurt, amongst others). She has sung Helmwige ("Die Walküre") at the Met in New York, in Vienna, Munich, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, in Frankfurt, Glyndebourne and at the Salzburg Festival. She sang Turandot at the Bregenz Festival in 2015 and 2016, Rega in Aribert Reimann's "Lear" at Opéra National de Paris in 2016, as well as Brünnhilde ("Siegfried") in Tokio. Recent appearances in Wiesbaden include the title role in "Norma", Senta ("Der fliegende Holländer", recently also in Frankfurt), Chrysothemis ("Elektra") and Empress in "Die Frau ohne Schatten". This season, she returns to Wiesbaden as Senta in the International May Festival production of "Der fliegende Holländer".
