Arnold Rutkowski

Born in Poland, Arnold Rutkowski won the 2009 Operalia Singing Competition and has since enjoyed a busy career on the great European opera stages. He made his debut at the Berlin State Opera as Alfredo in "La Traviata", at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf/Duisburg as Pinkerton in "Madama Butterfly" and at the Finnish National Opera as Rodolfo in "La Bohème". In 2011, he made his house debuts in Stockholm as Rodolfo and in Hamburg as Duke of Mantua ("Rigoletto"). In the following year, he sang Lenski ("Eugene Onegin") in Warsaw, as well as Don José in "Carmen" at the Berlin State Opera. He subsequently made his debut in Geneva and made his house debut as Rodolfo at the Semperoper Dresden. Here, he also sang Don José ("Carmen") in 2014, a role which he also reprised in 2016/17. Further central roles include Edgardo ("Lucia di Lammermoor"), Manrico ("Il Trovatore"), the title roles in "Faust" and "Roméo et Juliette", Des Grieux ("Manon Lescaut") and Cavaradossi ("Tosca"). This season, he will perform Riccardo ("Un ballo in maschera") in Wiesbaden.
