Martin Koch studied in Cologne and was a member of the opera studio at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. Guest engagements have taken him to the Bavarian State Opera, Mannheim National Theatre, Hamburg and Cologne, where he appeared in roles such as Spoletta (“Tosca”) and David (“Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg”). He appeared as Monostatos (“Die Zauberflöte”) and Snaut in Detlev Glanert’s “Solaris” (amongst others) at the Bregenz Festival, and made his role debut as Desportes in Zimmermann’s “Die Soldaten” at the Komische Oper in Berlin in 2014. He now sings the role at the Maifestspiele in Wiesbaden.
