125th Anniversary of the Maifestspiele
The International May Festival celebrates its 125th anniversary in May 2021! The festival has been the cultural highlight of Wiesbaden's theatre calendar since 1896, representing all divisions of the performing arts: from opera to concerts, drama and performance art. From 1 to 31 May 2021, the anniversary edition once again promises an exciting festival programme, jam-packed with opera, concerts, dance and drama, from Baroque to the modern, featuring many special guests and glittering galas.
2021 Opera Galas – Tickets on sale now!
Tickets for the opera galas are already on sale. Festivalgoers can look forward to an exciting programme, which includes the Wiesbaden premiere of Jörg Widmann's Babylon, as well as popular classics such as La Traviata, Il barbiere di Siviglia and Le nozze di Figaro. Another festival highlight is Wagner's complete Ring cycle, with a star-studded festival cast under the baton of GMD Patrick Lange. This year's guest soloists include Klaus Florian Vogt as Sigmund, Erwin Schrott as Figaro, Catherine Foster as Brünnhilde, Andreas Schager as Siegfried, Albert Pesendorfer as Hunding, Johannes Martin Kränzle as Gunther and Marina Prudenskaya in "Babylon". The complete festival programme, including dance, drama and children’s theatre, will be announced at a press conference in February 2021. Advance bookings will begin mid-February 2021.
