The Youth Choir was founded in 1954 by Dr. Carl Howe for Dvořák's opera "The Jacobin". The choir then appeared on stage for the first time on 17 December 1954, under the tutelage of his wife Margarethe Howe, a trained singer and music teacher. Dagmar Howe took over the reigns from her months in 1983, leading the choir with great commitment until the end of the 2018/19 season.
During the 2018/19 season, the Hessian State Theatre of Wiesbaden welcomed a new cooperation with the Evangelische Singakademie Wiesbaden
. In 2019/20, the Jugendkantorei will perform in "Carmen"
and "Hänsel und Gretel"
, while the Singakademie Children's Choir will appear in the revival of "Tosca"
. Residing within the Wiesbaden Lutheran Church, the Evangelische Singakademie is directed by Jörg Endebrock. Jud Perry, Lena Naumann, Rouwen Huther and Marina Russman are also responsible for the musical preparations.
