When three witches predict that Macbeth will one day become king of Scotland, he turns into a tyrannical and unscrupulous man. Not only do many people around him fall victim to his lust for power, in the end he himself becomes a victim too.

William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" is a classic of world literature. The NIE company tells the tragedy in a witty, powerful and accessible way, in only 55 minutes and with few resources, conjured out of a suitcase! In addition, there are a few musical instruments and the help of the audience. Suitable for ages 9 and over, this atmospheric performance is not only an introduction to Shakespeare's work, but also touches audiences with its contemporary approach to the universal themes of this famous story.

New International Encounter (NIE) was founded in 2001. The company has toured worldwide with its innovative productions, as well as locally in schools in Norway and England. NIE has received numerous awards, including the 2011 ASSITEJ International Award for Artistic Excellence.

Supported by Arts Council England. With thanks to Alex Byrne & Lisa Elmer.
