Übers Meer

Art ist often inspired by places of longing, like the sea. In their literary-musical evening "Übers Meer", actress Barbara Auer and pianist Olena Kushpler create a natural symbiosis of poetry and music. Lesser-known poets such as Orhan Veli Kanık meet heavyweights like Charles Baudelaire and Else Lasker-Schüler. The programme also includes works by well-known composers such as Claude Debussy, as well as some who are more familiar to connoisseurs, such as the Japanese composer Tōru Takemitsu. The theme of the evening itself is as broad as the range of the artistic programme: Here, the sea as a source of inspiration is at times an idyll saturated with wanderlust, at times a threatening elemental force.
