8th Symphony Concert

"Let's dance!" is the motto of the final symphony concert. Breaking away from the usual Kurhaus format, the State Theatre building itself becomes the performance space: every stage, foyer, nook and cranny will hold a special musical surprise! And of course, the Hessian State Orchestra will present a full concert programme in the Großes Haus, followed by all the ensembles in a dazzling interdisciplinary end-of-season celebration.

Born in St Petersburg in 1988, Dariya Maminova studied in her native city, as well as in Detmold and Cologne, where she still lives today. She describes herself as a "composer and performer"; concerts featuring her compositions, in which she herself appears as singer or pianist, are poetic reflections, improvisations and dialogues between the musicians involved. Maminova writes music theatre, instrumental and electronic music, exploring the interaction between different cultures and blurring the boundaries between Classical music and pop. The desire for interdisciplinary work and collaboration between people from different musical cultures in Wiesbaden led to Maminova's invitation as Composer in Residence for the 2024/25 season. Plans include the first performance of a new music theatre piece in the Studio, the formation of an intercultural band and the premiere of a new orchestral work as part of the 8th Symphony Concert under the baton of GMD Leo McFall.
