Stage & Costume Designer
Anne Buffetrille was born in St. Germain en Laye in 1973 and studied German language and literature in Paris from 1991 to 1994. Subsequently, she assisted in directing and costume design at the Théâtre national de Chaillot in Paris, and later worked as freelance director and permanent set assistant at various theatres in Germany. This was followed by her first own work as a stage and costume designer in Jena, Linz and Salzburg. During 2004/2005 she was assistant to the French fashion designer Barbara Loison and worked with Jean Paul Gaultier and Sonia Rykiel, among others. In addition to opera and ballet, she has increasingly worked as a costume designer for drama productions, including at Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Theaterhaus Jena, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Staatsschauspiel Hannover, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Theater Basel and Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin. She has been part of the artistic team at Schauspielhaus Wien under the direction of Tomas Schweigen since the 2015/2016 season.
She has worked with Tilo Nest for many years: their productions in Wiesbaden include "Der ideale Ehemann", "Shockheaded Peter", "Tyll" and "Il barbiere di Siviglia".
