Stage & Costume Designer
Friedrich Eggert works as stage, costume and lighting designer for opera, drama and musicals and has worked with directors such as Inga Levant, Michael Schachermaier, Aron Stiehl, Gerald Maria Bauer, Cordula Däuper, Nicole Claudia Weber and Bernd Mottl. His work has taken him to many theatres in Germany and further afield, including the Vienna Volksoper (»Kiss me, Kate«), the National Theatre Brno (»Boris Godunow«), the Prague State Opera (»Cavalleria Rusticana / Pagliacci«), Cologne Opera (»L’elisir d’amore«, »Die Csárdásfürstin«), Saarbrücken (»La Cenerentola«, »Macbeth«), Graz (»Un ballo in maschera«, »Il viaggio à Reims«, »Vor Sonnenaufgang«), Klagenfurt (»Im Weißen Rössl«, »Das Land des Lächelns«, »Evita« and »Der Vogelhändler«), Darmstadt (»Cabaret«, »Die Fledermaus«), Munich (»La Bohème«), Wuppertal (»Die Zauberflöte«), Mannheim (»Albert Herring«), Meiningen (»The Sound of Music«), Bern (»Evita«), and the Hannover State Opera (»My fair Lady«, »Werther«, »Der fliegende Holländer«, »Der junge Lord«), as well to London and Barcelona (»La Sonnambula«), Paris (»Arabella«) and the Komische Oper Berlin (»Die Zaubermelodika«).
His work in Wiesbaden includes collaborations with Bernd Mottl on »Candide«, followed by »Geächtet«, »Mein Kampf«, »Manon«, »Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg« and »Anna Nicole«. This season, he designs the costumes for Mottl's new production of the play »Kalldewey, Farce«.
