Michael Volle is one of the most important interpreters of Wagner and Verdi. He was an ensemble member at the Zurich Opera from 1999 to 2007, followed by Munich from 2007, where he performed roles such as Eugene Onegin and Wozzeck. Major Wagner roles like Wanderer/Wotan (the “Ring” cycle), Hans Sachs (“Der Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Dutchman, Kurnewal (“Tristan und Isolde”) and Amfortas (“Parsifal”) have taken him to the Met in New York, Opéra National de Paris, the Vienna State Opera, La Scala, the Berlin State Opera, Royal Opera House London, and the Salzburg and Bayreuth Festivals. After presenting a song recital at the 2016 International May Festival, he now returns to the Wiesbaden stage as Hans Sachs in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg". Additionally, he will sing Holländer at the 2020 edition of the Festival.
