"Timelessness" is a multi-layered triple dance evening consisting of of Marc Brew's "exisTence", as well as the premiere performances of Xie Xin's "Timeless" and Eyal Dadon's "Boléro".
Man's interaction with nature in times of economic profiteering and climate change is the theme of Marc Brew's "exisTence": the choreography sequentially displays the ambivalent forces of sun, water and wind, embodied by various motion dynamics. Marc Brew is an internationally acclaimed choreographer, artistic director, disabled dancer and director of the Marc Brew Company. From 2017 to the end of 2021, the Australian also took over the artistic direction of the AXIS Dance Company, with which he toured worldwide.
In "Timeless", Chinese choreographer Xie Xin explores human encounters and the immersion with our surroundings. Drawing on deep inner thought, calligraphy-like landscapes emerge, underscored by a newly commissioned work for string instruments and piano by Chinese composer Sylvian Wang. Xie Xin ist one of the most sought-after choreographers in Asia, maintaining a busy touring schedule with her own Xiexin Dance Theatre. During the 2018/19 season, she presented the guest production "From In" in the Kleines Haus and subsequently returned to develop the short piece "Special Moment" as part of the four-part dance evening "Shortcuts" in the Wartburg.
In the final work of the evening, Israeli choreographer Eyal Dadon questions the topicality and timelessness of Maurice Ravel's famous "Bolero".
