Since its Viennese premiere on 30 December 1905, "The Merry Widow" has taken the world by storm, becoming a legend in its own time and culminating in the so-called "Silver Age" of operetta. To this day, the work remains one of the most frequently performed in the repertoire, with evergreens such as "Vilja" or "Lippen schweigen" earning a deserved place as staples of the genre.
