Tradition or change, youth or old age, law and order or chaos and anarchy, self-interests or general welfare, nationalism or globalisation - a balancing act which can shape a society for better or worse. In the world of the "Meistersinger", an artists' drama and lovely story are the central forces which finally tip the scales of a nation. Wagner's magical poetry casts a fine line between tragedy and comedy. In order to avert chaos in Nuremberg and build a new future, master Hans Sachs must proceed with wisdom, humanity, insight and abandonment.
