Die Pest

The Plague
Based on the novel by Albert Camus
Adapted for the stage by Sebastian Sommer
Performed in German

There is hardly a more relevant adaptation to the current state of the world than Albert Camus's novel "The Plague" from 1947: physician Dr. Bernard Rieux's report on the course of the plague epidemic in Oran shows amazing parallels to the corona crisis. He describes in detail the pandemic's effect on society and social life, including what the persistent state of fear, helplessness and uncertainty does to the collective state of mind.
