Sharon Kempton

Australian soprano Sharon Kempton studied in Melbourne before heading to Europe as a scholarship holder of the German Australian Opera Grant. She has since sung various roles in Cologne, Essen, Kassel and Ulm, amongst others. She sang the role of Fiordiligi (“Cosi fan tutte”) during the 2014/2015 season in Essen, and was a permanent ensemble member at the State Theatre of Wiesbaden until 2014, where her roles included Rosina (“Il barbiere di Siviglia”), Marie (“The Bartered Bride”), Elisabeth Zimmer (Henze’s “Eliegie für junge Liebende”), Eternita/Guinone (Cavalli’s “La Calisto”) and Valencienne (“The Merry Widow”). Further notable roles in Wiesbaden include Countess de la Roche in Zimmermann’s “Die Soldaten”, Gerhilde in "Die Walküre", Rosalinde in "Die Fledermaus", First Lady in "Die Zauberflöte" and Gertrud in "Hänsel und Gretel". This season, she graces the stage as Marianne in "Der Rosenkavalier", First Lady in "Die Zauberflöte", Aufseherin in "Elektra", as well as Gertrud in "Hänsel und Gretel".
