With "Horizonte" (Horizons), the Hessian State Ballet brings together two strong contemporary forces in an exciting double evening: the commissioned piece “The Butterfly Effect” by British choreographer Alexander Whitley and "Untitled Black" by Israeli dance superstar Sharon Eyal. Inspired by the butterfly effect in chaos theory, Whitley creates a dynamic, flowing space which unfolds from the initial delicate quiver of wings into a vast hurricane. Eyal's work, in contrast, focuses on dense, energy-charged futuristic dance, characterised by a display of strength and a booming soundtrack. The two opposing choreographies reveal humanity caught up in the alternating forces of spirit and matter, in the ambivalence of an existence as both creature and machine. In this conflicting field of extremes, the dancers move between two poles, interconnected in their incompatibility.
