Nadia Beugré

“For me, dance is a mission. I always dance as if it were my last day.” Whether as interpreter or choreographer, Nadia Beugré is never satisfied with easy answers, but seeks to understand people and what moves them. Having grown up in Abidjan, trained in Senegal at Germaine Acogny’s famous École des Sables and in Montpellier with Mathilde Monnier, Beugré links the perspectives of different continents in her pieces. How has our view of bodies been influenced by the colonial past, gender stereotypes and economic dependencies? As spotlight artist, Nadia Neugré is central to this year’s Tanzfestival Rhein-Main.
