Kammersänger Thomas de Vries has held permanent appointments in Cottbus, Oldenburg, Dortmund and Wiesbaden. Guest engagements have taken him to the Komische Oper Berlin, Mannheim, Düsseldorf, Heidelberg and Cagliari/Italy, among others. He is the director of the "Ensemble Mattiacis", which annually performs rediscovered Baroque masterpieces at the International May Festival. Important roles in Wiesbaden since 2015 include Telramund, Rangoni ("Boris Godunov"), Alberich ("Das Rheingold", "Siegfried" and "Götterdämmerung"), Biterolf ("Tannhäuser"), Beckmesser ("Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg"), Peter Besenbinder ("Hansel and Gretel"), Jochanaan ("Salome"), Balstrode ("Peter Grimes"), Don Carlos ("La forza del destino"), Don Alfonso ("Così fan tutte"), Count Monterone ("Rigoletto"), Count Almaviva ("Le nozze di Figaro") and Bartolo ("Il barbiere di Siviglia"). He received the honorary title of "Kammersänger" in 2014.
